After dark...

Anyone who knows Steve knows he enjoys building fires! Here he is with the bonfire he lit so that we could hang out there and make smores. Trouble is, we had all eaten so much that no one could even think of having another bite of anything--even s'mores!!

The kids hung out around the fire anyway and had fun with the sparklers and smoke bombs that one of the families had brought.

Then we all sat outside in the front yard to watch Evan's fireworks display. The neighbors (who had finished a pretty spectacular display of their own) came over and passed out about 50 necklaces and a few bracelets, all of which were the gowing kind. The kids had a ball and one of the girls made herself outfits out of them while the others swung them around or linked them together to make jumping ropes.

It was a really fun evening and when everyone had gone home, I sent the girls to bed but Hannah needed to relive it a bit and asked to cuddle on the couch for a while. She chatted about everything with wide eyes and proclaimed it to be the best Fourth of July EVER!
